X-Men

Before they became legends, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Angel, Beast, and Iceman were Professor X's very first students at the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. Their early adventures taught the world what it meant to be an X-Man and a hero, and this collection tells some of the untold stories of the team that laid the groundwork for a mutant dynasty.

Among the adventures, the Fantastic Four's Invisible Girl pays the school a visit, the team goes on a mission to Monster Island, and Hank and Bobby take a vacation road trip. The mutant-hunting Sentinels then target Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, and the depowered X-Men must find a way to save their friends from extermination.

The young heroes also meet shape-shifting Skrulls from outer space, the swamp-dwelling Man-Thing, and the super-spy Black Widow. Marvel Girl and the Scarlet Witch become close friends while fighting the Mole Man and other foes. The volume collects X-Men: First Class (2007) issues 1 through 9.
