Yakshini

Far above the earth, in a realm hidden by clouds, a divine beauty known as a Yakshini is serving out a sentence for her folly. Down below, in Maharashtra, a couple awaiting their seventh child perform a special yajna in the hope that their wishes will be granted. By a strange twist of fate, these two very different lives become bound together.

Meenakshi, fifteen years old, is far from an ordinary girl. She carries celestial gifts: a beauty that could rival a goddess's, a rare closeness with nature, and a supernatural being living inside her. Yet she lives among ordinary people, and in time the evil eye settles on her.

That is the moment the Yakshini within her wakes and takes control. Meenakshi is pulled into a world of passion and violence that soon puts her own husband's life at risk.

Neil D'Silva draws on Indian mythology for this chilling novel, filling it with fantastic creatures and vivid characters. At its heart is the struggle between the supernatural and the human.
