Some Hearts Are Simply Irreplaceable

"Can't you just get lost?" shouted Divya at her best friend.
It was the first time Meera had ever heard those words from her.
It was the story of two best friends who had grown up together since childhood. They studied in the same school, graduated from the same college, and even worked in the same company. Through every happiness and every hardship, they stood beside each other. Like every friendship, they had misunderstandings many times, but this time, it had gone too far.
For more than a year, they had been planning their first international trip together. Everything was already settled. Just a few days before the trip, Meera got a new project at work.
"I can't come, Divya. This project is important for my future. Let's postpone our trip," Meera said.
Divya tried her best to convince her. "No, yaar. We have planned everything. We've been waiting for this for so long." Neither of them was ready to give in. The argument became bigger, and in a moment of anger, Divya shouted those words.
After reaching home, Meera couldn't stop thinking about Divya.
A memory from Grade 8 suddenly came into her mind. Their school teacher had given everyone a project before the holidays. During that time, Meera's grandmother was seriously ill. Since she had grown up with her grandmother, she stayed with her in the hospital. Unfortunately, her grandmother passed away. Meera was completely broken and forgot about the project.
Knowing everything, Divya quietly completed not only her own project but Meera's project too. It wasn't easy. She spent sleepless nights thinking of ideas and finishing both before the deadline. When Meera came to know about it, she didn't even know how to thank her.
That wasn't the only time. Three years before that, Meera's family had fallen into financial debt. Her parents asked many people for help, but every door remained closed. Without thinking twice, Divya spoke to her parents and gave her jewels to help Meera's family. That one decision gave them hope when they needed it the most.
Meera remained silent.
"What have I ever done for her?" she asked herself.
Nothing.
"I have always been on the receiving side. She was the one who kept giving, and I was the one who kept receiving." For the first time, her heart felt heavy. It took Divya's anger for Meera to realize how much Divya had adjusted for her all these years.
The next evening, as usual, they met for coffee. "I'm sorry," Divya said softly. "I shouldn't have shouted." Meera looked at her and smiled. "No... I'm the one who should say sorry. I'll decline the project. Let's go on the trip."
Divya immediately shook her head. "No, Meera. Trips can always be rescheduled. But this project may not come again. I was hurt because I was excited about our trip, not because I wanted you to miss your future. Go and do your best. We'll travel another day."
Meera smiled through her tears.
Once again, Divya had won... not by being right, but by being kind.
Some friendships are not always mutual. One person may give more, forgive first, and wait a little longer. Yet they still choose to stay. Not because they don't have other friends, but because some hearts are simply irreplaceable.
