The Day I Found a Friend

One fine day, I was walking down the street, simply admiring the sunset. There was nothing special about that evening. It was just a day, just a walk. Yet sometimes, the smallest moments arrive without warning and stay with us forever.
To my surprise, I saw a small white stray dog sitting in front of our gate. He was tiny, with curious eyes fixed on me.
I'm not really fond of pets, but getting close to him made me feel loved. He quietly wandered around me, wagging his tail. His fur was dusty white, and his ears stood up whenever I spoke. There was an innocence in his eyes that made it impossible to ignore him. I was melting in that moment. Every second felt like heaven.
I thought, maybe this is what being present teaches us. No worries, no regrets... just the happy face of the dog and mine.
I took some biscuits and offered them to him. The little cutie seemed so happy. Then, as usual, my daily chores started. But that lingering moment stayed in my heart.
The next day, while walking, I saw the same dog again. He simply came behind me, wagging his tail. I smiled without realizing it. It felt comforting to know that someone, even a little stray dog, seemed happy to see me. In a strange way, his presence made the world feel a little kinder. Somehow, I felt less lonely and a little safer. It felt like I had found a new friend for life.
Sometimes we search for healing everywhere. We take it very seriously and keep looking for answers. But a small gesture from a dog can heal our untold pains. I felt that on that day.
“Love is often around us. Sometimes, all it takes is the eyes of a beholder to see it.”
