The Price Of A Gentle Heart

"It hurts more than I could have ever imagined."
Sara thought to herself the moment she found out that her boyfriend had cheated on her. Anyway, it wasn't the first time. She had caught him red-handed many times before. He got caught again and again. But somehow, she never accepted the depth of their betrayal. Her brain knew the truth, but her heart refused to believe it.
But why did it hurt so much this time?
Because this was the first time he chose someone else right in front of her. The girl he cheated on her with was none other than her own best friend. It was a double betrayal.
She collapsed. Finally, Sara let them go. They never thought about her, but she always thought about them. She didn't curse them. She didn't scold them. She simply let them go.
If that makes you happy, let it be.
That was her last thought about them. Even after her mind accepted the truth, her heart took much longer. The pain was so deep that it silenced her.
As she stared outside the window, she found herself thinking about her life. She had always felt unlucky. Whenever she thought life was finally on her side, it somehow found another way to prove her wrong. She was frustrated with life.
The news spread throughout the college. Everyone started teasing her. Some blamed her. Some even insulted her. Yet, she didn't lose hope. Whenever she broke down, she thought about her mother. She was her role model.
Yes, she was unlucky enough to grow up without her father's love, but her mother never raised her to believe she was broken. She was the strongest and most independent woman Sara had ever known. Thinking about her mother always gave her the strength to move forward.
As the days passed, college came to an end. She started searching for a job. Around the same time, her best friend got a job in Bangalore and moved away. Once again, life found a new way to take away someone she loved.
She had always dreamed of having a father. She had always dreamed of finding true love. Neither dream came true. Still, she continued her journey with or without the people she loved.
That was the lesson life taught her, over and over again. Life was never easy for her, but somehow, every single time it knocked her down, she found the courage to get back up.
Whenever she cried, she searched for a shoulder to lean on. But nowadays, she feels more comfortable kneeling before God. Somehow, that became the safest place for her heart. It gave her a peace that no human ever could.
Even though she was on a healing journey, healing was never the bed of roses she had imagined. It was a zigzag road. One day she smiled. One month she felt completely fine. Then suddenly, one quiet night, memories rushed back into her mind, making her relive everything all over again. By the next morning, she would be okay again.
Healing is painful. Healing is exhausting. But she never gave up on it. This is how she fought life whenever it became too heavy.
Some souls are meant to suffer, not because they deserve pain, but because one day, their journey will become someone else's hope. Sara was one of those souls. She was a healer, someone who always brought hope and happiness to others even though she rarely experienced the same herself.
Still, seeing others smile was enough for her.
Like a sunburnt rose, she rose from the ashes of her pain and chose to bloom again.
