Cecily Foster has spent years as a podcast producer, working behind the scenes while she aimed for a show of her own. To get there she has put everything else on hold, including her love life. When her boss finally offers her the chance to host, she is thrilled, but there are two conditions. The show will be about her own dating life, and she will be mentored by Eliza Cassidy, a well-known dating coach, life coach and influencer.

Cecily would rather do almost anything than put her single status on public display, especially since the last time she mixed work and romance it ended badly. But her boss tells her that hosting the show is the only way to protect the job of someone she mentors, so she agrees.

Things get more tangled when she cannot stop thinking about Will, a photographer she met by chance while chasing a runaway dog down a busy street. The attraction is mutual, but Eliza forbids her from seeing him, convinced he is no better than the disappointing men Cecily has dated before. Cecily has to balance the romantic life she actually wants against the one Eliza is trying to script for her. She must decide whether she will slip back into old patterns or finally find love that lasts.
