Smilodon

Wyatt has taken a low-paying job in the town where he grew up, mostly because he loves hiking its trails and wants to be near his family. On one of those familiar paths he runs into a cougar, and he finds there is no way to avoid it.

Gabrielle is the top hunter working for the Shifter Nations of North America, so when the Shifter Council contacts her, she is not caught off guard. A rogue cougar has been attacking hikers, and her orders are to take it down quickly. None of her hunts has ever ended in failure. Following the cat's trail leads her to the scene of a violent fight, where she finds an injured hiker, a dead cougar, and a conclusion she cannot ignore: another predator has arrived in town.
