Subtle Bodies

Victor Bayne is usually the investigator who finds that a supposed haunting has a dull, rational explanation. When he is sent to look into odd happenings in a small Iowa town, where the locals seem strangely unbothered, he expects a fairly relaxed trip, and he brings Jacob, his Stiff, along for company.

The case turns out to be far stranger. Women are stripping in public with no memory of having done so, and a rental car agent seems to know much more than she should. The pair also uncover a discovery they cannot share with anyone. Jacob, who has an untested and unpolished ability, has to take charge instead of simply backing Vic up. Then Vic begins acting as oddly as the women, and the situation spirals. They must resolve it before FPMP National arrives to shut them down for good.

PsyCop is an ongoing series that blends supernatural action and awkward humor, with a steady gay romance running beneath the plot. The books are best read in order, so newcomers should begin with the first installment, Among the Living.
